Shingles and Framing Inspection

A few things have happened on the house. We don't have any new pictures, but sometime over Christmas, we should be able to get there during the day to take some new pictures. The shingles were put on the house about a week ago. We also had a lot of gravel put into the basement to level off the floor. Once that was done, we were able to get the framing inspection done. Unfortunately we had a big red sticker that said it failed. There was supposed to be some sort of roof truss diagram in the package for the inspector, but he didn't have it. That should have been sent and the inspector should be coming back to provide a green sticker in place of the red sticker.

The other part that should be happening in these days is that the plumbers are back in the house putting in the in-floor heat into the basement.

I would imagine with Christmas just around the corner that may be it until the new year.

In Floor Heat

Well it has been a month since we last posted. Progress has been really slow, but all the rough-ins are complete. This means that all the plumbing water supplies and drains, heating ducts and the wiring for lights and outlets are done. Yesterday Rob and his friend Bob put some sweat equity in the house and strung all the low voltage wiring. This includes network, speakers, alarm and TV/Cable/Satellite wires. The built in vacuum outlets are also all in place.

The pictures that we have posted today show some extras that we are putting in to the house. The first picture shows two headers. The one on the left is for the supply lines for the hot and cold water. There will be a pump on there as well that will circulate the hot water, so it won't take so long for the hot water to come out of the tap. The second header on the right also goes with second picture. It is acually a picture of the ceiling in the kitchen which is right underneath the ensuite bathroom. You can see white tubes running right beside the floor joists. There will be hot water running through those tubes so the that floor in our bathroom will be nice and toasty warm.

We are waiting for the shingles to be put on the roof. The weather has not been co-operating, but the forecast for this week looks much better. Hopefully, we will be posting again much sooner than a month.
